We may be new to San Francisco, but we're certainly aren't strangers to the City by the Bay. BeeMee packaging and design captures the essence of life in San Francisco with an Asian-inspired twist. Each scene features our Calbee character in one of three locales.
In front of shop, you can see the showcase displaying BeeMee. The showcase is inspired by the traditional Japanese lamp called a "andon". Popularized in the Edo period, the andon is a lamp that has paper stretched over a frame to protect the flame from wind. Today, you still can see these lamps along some traditional roads in cities like Kyoto, Japan.

Step into our store and experience our modern take on classical Japanese design. Our signage and wall patterns are inspired by traditional Japanese window patterns—floral, diamonds and fans.
When you enter our shop, you will see a traditional Japanese "noren". Noren were traditionally used in Zen temples as protection from the sun or wind. Later in the Edo period, merchants hung them in shop entrances to advertise their business. Noren signifies food will, hospitality and financial prosperity.

At Calbee shop San Francisco, we serve BeeMee from "masu" containers. Masu are square wooden boxes that are traditionally used to measure rice or beans during Japan's feudal period. Today, these cypress boxes can also be used to drink sake for special occassions.
